Thursday, September 19- Communication Games

Back to Back - ADVISOR PREP NEEDED!

Please find 3-5 pictures that can be used for this game. They can be printed out OR on a chromebook that the student holds to describe to their partner. In addition, they will need 3-5 pieces of paper and a writing utensil.

Two team members sit back to back. One is given a sketch pad and a pencil, the other is given a random picture. The objective of the game is that the person with the picture has to describe the details of the image to his teammate, while the teammate sketches. This is a great game because it improves listening skills, and promotes the skill to communicate something effectively.

20 Questions

20 Questions is a communication game that will develop students' ability to ask direct questions. Have your students sit in a circle with one child in the middle. Tell the student in the middle of the circle to think of a person, place or thing that other kids have to guess. Have them write it down and give to the Advisor. No other students should see their answer. Then, the group can ask the student questions to identify the answer. The student in the middle can answer the questions from his classmates in a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. If no one can guess, then the student in the middle of the circle will be the winner.
