Sonora Middle School students were the first to enjoy more than $27,000 in donated sporting equipment Nov. 10 at a school field day.
Good Sports partnered with MedExpress to help the school district’s four middle school athletic and physical education programs acquire a wish list of equipment, said Betsy Barker, Springdale Public Schools assistant athletics director.
The donation includes more than 1,450 pieces of equipment valued at about $27,630, she said. The district previously received a donation of some $16,504 from Good Sports as well, for a total of $44,134.
Donated items include new basketball, volleyball, flag football, pickleball, tennis, soccer, physical fitness and general fitness equipment.
Representatives from Good Sports and MedExpress participated in two Sonora Middle School field day sessions Nov. 10 to introduce students to the equipment from the most-recent donation.
About 45 Sonora Middle School students participated in each session, which included engaging and active stations run by MedExpress employees.
The equipment was disbursed to all district middle schools following the event, benefitting about 2,765 students.
